One would say we're all currently in a world where one is stepping on eggshells when it comes to matters concerning race.Whereas if you step into this sensitive matter, you'll get your head bitten off but it's truly not that difficult to understand that there shouldn't be a case where race is ignored.
It's that simple!
Claiming that you don't see race only makes matters worse because you choose to accept this vague concept that only contributes disrespect and ignorance to many cultures and people of colour.
For instance,by you saying you don't see race, you are not only disregarding its history where many lives were lost, many sold off and exploited at slave markets, many going missing and not to mention the sufferings many faced due to white privileges and dictatorships led by cruel tyrants, but you are vaguely committing yourself to a statement that proves disregard of proper justice and importance to a cruel era that proves to be birthing itself in the hearts and minds of today's society.
Basically,by engaging yourself or falling back to this statement, you are denying people of colour their sufferings due to white supremacy or privileges and you are erasing every bit of identity and culture which is sown into their skin from the time they are born.
We want you to see colour.
Because we don't want society to forget the sufferings our ancestors and forefathers went through so we can have a democratic society where we aren't judged by the basis of our skin or gender but treated equally with no strings attached!
Now,this doesn't mean we're holding you responsible for the past but we're just stating that not all of us were born with the luxury of having to say race doesn't matter to us but unfortunately it does because we are still seen the same way we were seen centuries ago.
We need to face facts...
White supremacy is still present in some societies
White privileges are without a doubt still present
People still aren't equal in the eyes of the law or system
There are many other facts still present in our lives and the unfortunate truth of it all is some people choose to believe that things have changed, matter of a fact, nothing has changed they just changed the game.
It's essential that we understand such facts and educate ourselves about race and its origin before we jump to conclusions that'll suppress other people's identities, cultures and origin.
It is essential that we embrace it and its backgrounds as it's the core of all the problems we're facing today.
There really is no use to pretending that it doesn't matter or affect your life because it affects us all as a nation.
It's time to see race.
